South Sudan Launches 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence Campaign

<p>Ministry of Health (MoH) was glad to announce for South Sudan the commencement of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign in 2025 which has been called an important project of the Republic of South Sudan for the protection of women and girls against any form of violence. The launch was championed by the Minister of Health Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial, Minister of Health - Republic of South Sudan as well as Acting Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare.</p>

<p>The yearly campaign, conducted from November 25 to December 10, seeks to increase general awareness and push for important legislative changes, such as the passing of the aforementioned: </p>
<ul>
<li>Anti-GBV Bill </li>
<li>Family Law Bill </li>
</ul>

<p>The progress of a number of policies and efforts was acknowledged by Hon Sarah Cleto Rial. But she emphasized an acute need for more action to end violence. “I’m taking a direct stand call to action and urge all citizens and all other stakeholders to use the ‘16 Days’ — and any day after that — to come together and work together toward a nation where every woman and girl can, in all respects, walk the streets with dignity, safety and freedom.” </p>

<p>The Minister said she was highly grateful to all partners and donors who continue to finance and provide technical support, highlighting the critical importance of their efforts in making South Sudan a safer country available to women and girls.</p>

<p>November 25th is the official public launch event for the 16 Days of Activism campaign at Medan Rainbow (Rainbow Playground). The Ministry of Health invites all citizens to attend and to support.</p>
