Juba, South Sudan – July 14, 2025Ministry of Health Fosters Collaboration in Public-Private Partnerships

The Ministry of Health (MOH) - South Sudan, in a significant move to bolster the nation's healthcare system, is currently hosting a three-day mapping and engagement workshop for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) stakeholders. This crucial initiative, organized in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), Amref Health Africa, and UNDP, aims to strengthen ties between public and private sector actors to enhance healthcare service delivery and contribute to national development.

The core objective of this workshop is to foster greater coordination and collaboration between the public and private sectors. By bringing together diverse expertise and innovation from the private sector, the Ministry of Health seeks to elevate the quality of care, improve service standards, and ultimately boost patient satisfaction across South Sudan.

During the official opening of the workshop, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Hon. Dr. Annin Ngot Ngot Mou, underscored the critical role of collaboration in tackling South Sudan's pressing health challenges. Dr. Annin Ngot emphasized the necessity of strategic engagement with the private sector to improve service delivery, enhance quality, and drive innovation within the healthcare landscape.

Dr. Annin Ngot also called for ongoing support from development partners, civil society, and the public to ensure that Public-Private Partnerships truly serve all people equitably. This collaborative approach is vital for the successful implementation and sustainability of these partnerships.

This workshop comes on the heels of a significant development: South Sudan's Cabinet recently approved a national PPP policy. This forward-thinking policy is designed to create an enabling environment for public-private partnerships, stimulating socio-economic development and securing sustainable funding for crucial infrastructure projects, including those within the health sector. The policy provides a robust foundation for structuring, negotiating, and managing PPPs, ensuring they align with national priorities and contribute effectively to the country's progress.

The workshop has attracted a diverse group of participants from both the private and public sectors, including representatives from various medical and drug supply companies, highlighting the broad interest and commitment to these partnerships.

The Ministry of Health is an institution of government that works to maintain South Sudanese health by offering efficient medical facilities and humanitarian support.
