Ministry of Health Launches Vital Yellow Fever and Oral Cholera Vaccination Campaign at Juba International Airport

Juba | June 13, 2025 –  Ministry of Health Launches Vital Yellow Fever and Oral Cholera Vaccination Campaign at Juba International Airport

In a proactive measure against the backdrop of rising global pandemics and in full compliance with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005), the National Ministry of Health, in close collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has officially launched a crucial vaccination campaign. This initiative, focusing on Yellow Fever and Oral Cholera Vaccines (OCV), commenced today at Juba International Airport, aiming to robustly safeguard the health and well-being of all citizens, travelers, and visitors entering and exiting South Sudan.

Honorable Minister Sarah Cleto Rial, Minister of Health for the Republic of South Sudan, underscored the paramount importance of vaccination during the launch. She issued a compelling call to action, urging every individual – be they citizen, traveler, or visitor – to prioritize their health by readily utilizing the readily available vaccination services. Minister Rial further emphasized the critical need for enhanced public education regarding vaccination requirements and issued a strong caution against the procurement of counterfeit yellow fever vaccination cards at airports.

"I urge all our citizens, the travelers and visitors, to take their health and safety seriously, especially in these challenging times, and please use the vaccination services provided here and at other designated points of entry," stated Hon. Sarah.

The Minister extended her sincere appreciation to all health partners, the donor community, and the dedicated staff of the Ministry for their unwavering support in fortifying public health initiatives designed to prevent preventable diseases.

This two-day vaccination campaign is strategically designed to achieve multiple vital objectives: to significantly strengthen national disease prevention and control mechanisms, to establish an efficient and reliable digital record-keeping system for administered vaccines, and to substantially increase awareness among travelers and visitors regarding vaccine-preventable diseases.

The Ministry of Health is an institution of government that works to maintain South Sudanese health by offering efficient medical facilities and humanitarian support.
