The National Minister of Health, Honourable Yolanda Awel Deng Juac, recently met with UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Mr. Ted Chaiban to discuss the progress of the South Sudan Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP).
The meeting specifically emphasised the importance of reaching a final agreement on the project outputs and addressing any issues related to the delivery of incentives. This highlights the commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the project and its positive impact on the health sector in South Sudan.
The government of South Sudan, with donor support, leads the HSTP, which aims to enhance health services and leave behind a strengthened system.
In a press statement to the media, the South Sudan Minister of Health, Hon. Yolanda Awel Deng Juach, expressed gratitude to UNICEF for their long-term support and collaboration in implementing the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP), which focuses on localization, sustainability, and resiliency.

UNICEF's assistance extends to various health initiatives, including immunisation and vaccination campaigns for polio, measles, and malaria, as well as nutrition packages.
“UNICEF has been providing crucial support for several projects in our country. In addition to the Health Sector Transformation Project, we are currently running immunisation and vaccination programs such as the polio campaign and the measles campaign”. stated Hon. Awel.
As the partnership between the Ministry of Health and UNICEF progresses, there is a shared hope to address these challenges effectively and ensure that healthcare services reach every individual in South Sudan. The Ministry remains optimistic about the future, looking forward to continued collaboration that will transform healthcare in the country for generations to come.
