Minister Yolanda Flags Off First Batch of Medicines to Flood-Affected Areas

June 7th, 2024 - Juba, South Sudan - The Republic of South Sudan Minister, Hon. Yolanda Awel Deng Juach, has officially flagged off the first batch of essential medicines and medical equipment destined for regions heavily impacted by recent floods and natural disasters.
This initiative, led by the National Ministry of Health, aims to provide critical healthcare support and resources to the affected communities across South Sudan. During the ceremonial flag-off event, Minister Juach expressed the government's commitment to ensuring the timely delivery of these vital medical supplies.
"The Ministry of Health is resolute in our efforts to support the healthcare needs of our citizens, especially those who have been devastated by the ongoing floods," stated Minister Yolanda. "We are working in close collaboration with our partners, including UNICEF, to coordinate the distribution and last-mile delivery of these essential resources."
UNICEF and other health implementing partners have played a pivotal role in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure and services throughout South Sudan. Their collective contributions have been instrumental in enhancing the overall capacity of the national health system.
"The unwavering support from our partners has been invaluable in our mission to provide quality, accessible healthcare to the people of South Sudan," added Minister Yolanda. "We are truly grateful for their continued commitment and collaboration in addressing the pressing healthcare challenges faced by our nation."
The Minister emphasized the critical importance of strict adherence to the distribution plan by all State Ministries of Health, County Health Departments, and implementing partners involved in the final stages of medicine delivery. This is essential to ensure the medicines reach the designated health facilities and are not diverted to the markets, thereby guaranteeing the intended beneficiaries receive the necessary treatment and care.
