Hon. Luke Thompson Thoan Officially Assumes Office as Minister of Health
JUBA, South Sudan | April 1, 2026 — The Ministry of Health today officially welcomed the newly appointed Minister of Health, Hon. Luke Thompson Thoan, as he formally assumed his duties. The transition was marked by a formal reception held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Juba, attended by senior government officials, health partners, staff, and distinguished guests.
In a landmark ceremony, the outgoing Minister of Health, Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial, formally handed over the leadership mantle. The transition included the transfer of vital strategic documents, updates on ongoing national health projects, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the continuity of the Ministry’s mandate.
