New Undersecretary Hon. Dr. Francis Oromo Officially Assumes Office at Ministry of Health
JUBA | March 30, 2026 — The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce that the newly appointed Undersecretary, Honourable Dr. Francis Oromo, has officially assumed his duties today. The transition was marked by a formal handover ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Juba.
During the event, the outgoing Undersecretary, Dr. Kennedy Gaaniko Baime, formally transferred all official responsibilities, strategic documents, and ministry portfolios to Dr. Oromo. The transition ensures the continuity of the Ministry’s vital work in strengthening South Sudan’s healthcare system.
The ceremony was witnessed by senior leadership and key technical staff, including the Ministry’s Senior Technical Advisor, Dr. Baba Samson, and the Director General for Administration and Finance, Mr. Joseph Hassan.
In his inaugural remarks, Dr. Oromo expressed his gratitude for the appointment and emphasized his commitment to collaborative leadership. He pledged to work closely with ministry staff, regional health departments, and international development partners to effectively address the country’s pressing health challenges.
"Our goal is to build upon the foundations already laid," Dr. Oromo stated. "By working hand-in-hand with our dedicated professionals and partners, we will strive to improve health outcomes and service delivery for all citizens of South Sudan."
