JUBA - Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial, Minister of Health of the Republic of South Sudan, on 3 September 2025, held a meeting with H.E. David Ashley, UK Ambassador to South Sudan, concerning UK support for the Health sector for the long term. The discussion was focused on issues under the Health Sector Transformation Project HSTP-for instance, interventions considered critical in health care delivery.
Discussions included priority areas in tremendous need of investment: maternal and child health. The two together described an agenda for immediate and longer-term health priorities, sharing a common resolve for the creation of an ever-healthier future for all South Sudanese citizens.
Minister Cleto further thanked the UK for support, singling out the Health Pool Fund for the last 12 years as a transformative force. According to Hon. Sarah, "This fund has been instrumental in strengthening South Sudan's health systems and infrastructure, leading to improvements in service delivery that have reached communities across the country."
Ashley assured the Health Minister of the UK commitment to partnering with South Sudan on these basic areas of concern and pledged continued support in enhancing healthcare access and quality.
This collaborative spirit reinforces the strong partnership between South Sudan and the United Kingdom, working together towards a strengthened, inclusive health system for all.
