September 3, 2025, Juba—Minister of Health Meets Office with Western Bhar El Ghazal State Minister to Address Pressing Health Concerns
Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial, Republic of South Sudan's Minister of Health, met Dr. Francis Michael Hassan, Western Bhar El Ghazal State Minister of Health, to discuss the health conditions in the state with special emphasis on Wau Teaching Hospital.
The meeting about the health sector challenges included inadequate human resources, irregular power supply, and lack of progress on health sector transformation projects. Under discussion was also workforce attrition due clearly to lack of incentive, as well as medical supplies shortages haunting the sector.
In a press statement following the meeting, Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial asserted that medical supplies were very urgent and emphasized that both primary and secondary health care services were essential.
She advised that other states plan the same so that health-related matters would be handled towards improving the well-being of the South Sudanese people. Hon. Sarah reiterated her office's commitment to collaborating with all the state ministries of health to improve healthcare services throughout the nation.
Dr. Francis Michael Hassan expressed his gratitude for the discussions and the warm welcome offered by the Minister.
