On Thursday, Minister of Health, Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial held a meeting with the team at the Juba Teaching Hospital to assess the current state of the hospital and determine what areas could be better. In attendance was the hospitals Director General, Dr. Anthony Lupai Simon, and other management staff.
The discussions centered on several important areas such as quality of care for patients, allocation of resources and plans for staffing. The team also considered whether the current operations can accommodate every growing number of patients faced with the regional health crisis.
Minister Sarah Cleto expressed the need for a strong relationship and collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the administrative team to provide an increase in healthcare services. Discussion also turned to training initiatives whereby medical staff would be better equipped with up-to-date skills.
The Minister concluded by enunciating her responsibilities and commitment to providing Juba Teaching Hospital with the necessary funding to ensure that the community has quality care. The team agreed to follow-up meetings on set intervals to evaluate how progress is made and any changes to the initial position.
This is an important meeting to enhance and improve upon the health system of South Sudan.
