Kampala | 21st July 2025 – Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial Calls for Triple Elimination of HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis in High-Level Africa Conference

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of South Sudan is honored to announce its Honorable Minister of Health, Sarah Cleto Rial, as a participant in the Africa Triple Elimination Conference 2025. The senior-level meeting, "Unifying Action, Transforming Futures: Achieving Triple Elimination in Africa by 2030," in Kampala, Uganda, July 21st -23rd, 2025.

Minister Sarah Cleto is among a rare group of respected members of an esteemed gathering of African health professionals, policymakers, advocates, and civil leaders. This invaluable platform has sworn to work collectively towards achieving the vital challenge of eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis across Africa by the year 2030.

The general objective of the conference is to enhance collaboration between governments, international health organizations, donors, the private sector, and civil society. Through enhancing such collaboration, the hope is to deliver combined health interventions that will greatly enhance tempo towards the triple elimination targets.

One of the high points of discussion will be how to break the cycle of constant difficulties with funding that have been discouraging elimination activities. The summit is actively convening donors, the private sector, and foundations to invest hugely in these initiatives in Africa. These include charting gaps in funding and formulating effective strategies in financing that is sustainable, for example, mobilizing domestic resources. Such investments are key to enhancing diagnostics, treatment, public health campaigns, and overall health system strengthening to meet the ambitious 2030 elimination targets.

Africa Triple Elimination Conference 2025 is co-hosted by a coalition of powerful organizations, such as African Union Commission, Uganda Ministry of Health, Africa CDC, World Health Organization (WHO), and UNAIDS, among others.

South Sudan pledges to collaborate with regional and global actors towards a world where there is no such disease, and healthy lives are guaranteed for children and mothers in Africa.
