The newly appointed Minister of Health for the Republic of South Sudan, Minister Sarah Cleto paid a courtesy call to H.E. Josephine Lagu Yanga, Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan and Chair of the Service Cluster. The meeting marked the Minister's official assumption of office and initiated crucial discussions on the nation's pressing health issues.

 

During the productive meeting, the Minister and H.E. Vice President Lagu Yanga focused on critical health challenges, including the recent cholera outbreak and comprehensive strategies to bolster South Sudan's healthcare system. The Minister expressed profound gratitude for the Vice President's unwavering commitment to supporting the Ministry of Health in its vital mission to ensure the well-being of all South Sudanese citizens.

 

"I am grateful for Her Excellency's commitment to supporting the Ministry of Health in ensuring the well-being of the people of South Sudan," stated the new Minister, Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial. "Together, we will work towards enhancing service delivery and responding effectively to public health emergencies."

 

The collaborative spirit emphasized during the meeting underscores a shared vision for a stronger, more resilient health sector capable of addressing current and future public health crises.

 

Also in attendance at the significant meeting were Dr. Annin Ngot Ngot Mou, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and Dr. John Pasquale Rumunu, Director General for Policy, Planning, Budgeting, and Monitoring & Evaluation.

 

This initial engagement signals a proactive approach by the Ministry of Health, working hand-in-hand with the Vice President's office, to deliver improved health services and safeguard the health of the nation.
