Ministry of Health Responds to Cholera Outbreak in Pibor Administrative Area Pibor, GPAA, 29 March 2025 - In response to an alarming cholera outbreak affecting the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, the National Ministry of Health has mobilised critical medical supplies and expertise to provide immediate assistance. The Undersecretary of the National Ministry of Health, Dr. Annin Ngot Ngot, alongside the Director General of Preventive Health Services, Emergencies Dr. Kediende Chong, overseeing the cholera response, leads a dedicated team that includes. This rapid response team is deploying to the most impacted regions, specifically the towns of Kangole and Gumrok, to implement urgent health interventions. As part of the initial response, previous medical teams have already delivered essential supplies, which include cholera treatment beds, oral rehydration solution, and vital intravenous fluids necessary for patient care. The logistical effort is being enhanced through a strong partnership with local governmental and international organisations, emphasising a unified approach to addressing this public health crisis. Dr. Kediende expressed gratitude to partners and ASK Foundation for their invaluable support in providing aircraft and logistical assistance, which has been crucial in facilitating the rapid transport of medical supplies and personnel to Pibor. The National Ministry of Health is committed to swiftly implementing effective measures to contain the outbreak, ensuring that communities receive the urgent medical care they need to combat this serious health threat. Efforts will include public health education on cholera prevention, enhanced sanitation measures, and establishing treatment centres to manage and treat the affected population.
