HSTP Partners Meet for Quarterly Review for Health Sector Transformation.
BOR, JONGLEI STATE – Last week, the partners of the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP) in Bor concluded their Quarterly Review Meeting in a meaningful stride towards enhancing regional healthcare delivery. We used the gathering as a platform to hold strategic discussions to evaluate the outcome of the project, identify some critical challenges to ensure that the roadmap for service delivery of vital health services can be narrowed and refined throughout Jonglei State. It was a high-profile meeting, signaling the government’s willingness to work around the initiative.
Key attendees included:
Hon. Jehan Machiek Deng, State Minister of Health.
Reath Koang Reath, State Director General for Health.
County Directors from Duk, Twic East and Bor South.
The focus of the review was on performance of Tearfund, a lead implementing partner of the HSTP in Jonglei State. Tearfund’s activities are targeted towards ensuring those who are the most at-risk - in particular children under 5 and pregnant women - have equitable access to high-quality maternal, newborn and child health services. Its focus on these populations has the potential to minimize the risk of avoidable diseases while increasing survival in maternity and infant health in the region. A Collaborative Initiative for Sustainable Change. The Health Sector Transformation Project is premised on solid partnerships.
Throughout the process, the Ministry of Health was deeply appreciative of these organizations that have made this transformation of service possible. The HSTP is a success as a result of close collaboration between Tearfund South Sudan, UNICEF South Sudan and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the generous actions of foreign donors. “Their commitment is vital in uplifting our health sector and minimizing the disease load. We’re joining hands and working toward a tomorrow full of healthier lives for everyone,” the Ministry concluded in a final commendation. Looking Ahead.
Through these insights this Quarterly Review in Bor will help us streamline service delivery in the months to come. And the HSTP is the bedrock of the government’s mission to ensure that quality, sustainable and equitable healthcare is rendered for every citizen in the State, and we can continue to do so, with continued cooperation between the State Ministry of Health and its implementing partners.
