HSTP Implementation Review: Driving Transformation for a Healthier South Sudan
JUBA | April 16th, 2026 – The Ministry of Health has finished the second day of the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP) meeting for Year 2, Quarter 3. This important meeting shows how the government is working hard to improve healthcare for everyone in South Sudan.
During the meeting, people talked a lot about the country's biggest health problems. They looked closely at important health areas to make sure they meet national goals. Here are the main focuses:
- Nutrition & RMNH: Improving health services for mothers, babies, and children.
- Boma Health Initiative: Strengthening health efforts led by the community.
- Immunization (EPI): Increasing vaccine coverage to stop childhood diseases.
- Infectious Diseases: Creating plans to control and treat Malaria, HIV, and TB.
The meeting was not just about looking back; it was also about planning for the future. Key outcomes from this review include:
- Valuable Lessons Learned: Finding problems in health services to avoid delays in the future.
- Actionable Acceleration Plans: Listing specific steps to speed up progress in the next quarter.
- Collaborative Improvement Plan: A clear plan with deadlines and accountability to ensure lasting results.
"The HSTP is more than a project; it is a promise to our people. By improving our strategies today, we are creating a stronger healthcare system for tomorrow."
The Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP) is a major initiative led by the Government of South Sudan. It gets support from the World Bank and other donors. UNICEF South Sudan and the World Health Organization (WHO) manage the project to ensure resources are used to save lives and create healthier communities.
