General Cleaning Campaign at Headquarters
In a general cleaning campaign, the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Health exchanged pens for cleaning tools, culminating in “a major collective action” this morning at JUBA — January 9, 2026.
Under the leadership of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Hon. Dr. Kennedy Ganiko Baima, the initiative works as a powerful reminder that public health starts with keeping everything clean.
” Hon. Dr. Kennedy Ganiko Baima reminded that sanitation is not just an aesthetic issue, it is a cornerstone to prevention of disease during the exercise. His primary defense against common illnesses, such as malaria and cholera, is to maintain clean environments. "A clean environment serves as an essential building block of any healthy nation. Starting from our headquarters, this is a standard for all government and the general public to strive toward," said Hon. Dr. Kennedy during the event.
A number of core goals served as the basis of the campaign on creating a culture of health and accountability, including the following:
Prevent Disease: Reducing breeding grounds for mosquitoes and bacteria.
Environmental consciousness: Inspiring leadership in sanitation initiatives not just at all levels but all over the sector.
Workplace Pride: Improving office decor for civil servants.
Members of the staff, various directorates, departments and specialized programs, participated enthusiastically. Some of the daytime's tasks involved litter collection, tidying office layouts and recycling to ensure a green work environment.
The event had a remarkable sense of unity. By working side by side, ministry employees showed that reaching national health goals is a team sport and requires common goals.
With the assistance of Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial, Minister of Health, the initiative reiterates the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for all citizens of the Republic of South Sudan.
